why did you decide to become a periodontist?
Dr. Yang decided to pursue dentistry during college after developing a strong interest in healthcare and
problem-solving. That early experience helped guide her toward periodontics, where she could combine hands-on
clinical work with long-term patient impact. She was drawn to the specialty because of its focus on improving both
function and comfort in a meaningful way.
where did you study periodontics?
Dr. Yang earned her undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Massachusetts before completing her Doctor of
Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She then went on to complete her
Periodontics residency at Oregon Health & Science University. Today, she is an active and proud member of
several professional organizations, including the:

outside of the dental office, what do you like to do?
When she isn’t at the office, Dr. Yang enjoys traveling, yoga, and hiking. She also has a strong interest in
art and plants and often visits museums and art fairs. At home, she enjoys painting in her garden and spending time
with her husband in Vancouver, WA. One fun fact about her is that she has a passion for turning complex situations
into clear, thoughtful plans—whether it’s navigating a dental concern or mapping out a multi-country
journey.
